Hello! Kia ora! Hola!

I am Emily and I am from New Zealand. I am 21 years old and have recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Spanish.

I am very lucky because the Ministry of Education in Spain has given me a placement in Navàs at Sant Josep school to help the children learn English.

This blog is for all the children and their families, the Ministry of Education, for the people at home and anyone else who is interested!

Our aim over the next six months is to help improve the students with their oral and conversational English.

But I will start from the beginning...

The End of April

Well time never stops racing by, we have had easter holidays which were a lot of fun! We can not believe that there is only one month left here at the school before we begin new adventures. We are busy practicing speaking tests for the exams in classes, I think everyone has improved in their spoken English! This week I have shown the children a story about how the islands of New Zealand were created / found...

One day there was a man called Maui (this is a well-known Maori god), he went fishing and caught a BIG fish, this fish looks like a sting-ray which represents the North Island, the South Island of New Zealand is said to be Maui´s canoe. Have a look: The Fish of Maui

The last few weeks ... (March - 1 April 2011)

¡HOLA! Well 2 more months left and it is hard to believe.

We had the white week (Semana Blanca) and I think most of us really enjoyed the holiday after all.

In the classes we have been singing a great song Don´t Worry Be Happy.
Now the kids repeat "Don´t Worry, Be Happy!" It always makes me smile, have a look below:

We also have looked at some typical food from New Zealand, the most popular was (no surprises!) the Lolly Cake and Hokey-Pokey ice-cream! You can see the slides below:

Until next time, adios!
